Second final
The fourth placed Hornridge were set to take on the third placed Andamooka Roos, in a game where the loser was out of the finals and the winner would take on the loser of the second game the following week.
Both teams were very eager to play, Hornridge coming off a lost to Olympic Dam and Andamooka had not played for two weeks.
Hornridge drew first blood as Michael Brooks kicked a superb snap at goal and was successful.
Andamooka replied with the next two goals in quick fashion.
Mark Barrand in the ruck for Hornridge worked well, with help from Tyrone Price Hornridge made it hard for the Roos to kick goals.
Austy and Wal Monfries also made it hard for Hornridge to kick goals with very solid defence.
In the second quarter Hornridge controlled the footy early on.
Tyrone in the middle was a stand out for Hornridge as well as Ben 'Hotdogs' Grimston.
Wayne Monroney and once again Mark in the ruck helped out, also when Brett Johnson was in ruck he provided a contest for the much taller ruckman for the Roos.
In the early stages of the quarter the Roos looked like they couldn't get it out of Hornridge's 50m arch.
Late in the quarter the Roos got much needed goals and Hornridge went into the long break with a one point advantage.
Andamooka came out firing with their forward line set up dominating, with Brett Penifold and other tall forwards taking big grabs.
The Roos midfield got on top and their delivery to Penifold and co was simply inspirational.
At three quarter time the Roos with a three goal advantage looked strong going in to the last term and likely victors.
In the last quarter Hornridge did not look like they were going to give it away at any cost.
They started off well with their backline tighten up and forward structure was kept the same but their midfield lead by Tyrone and a hard working and strong Bradley Cooper got on top and kept the ball inside their 50m arch.
Early goals by Hornridge saw the mood change and the crowd get louder.
When the Roos went forward they could not find the goals.
With about two minutes to go the ball went forward into Hornridge's 50m.
Tyrone picked the ball up in front of goal and had a snap at goal and only just sneaked it through which put Hornridge two points in front.
When the ball was run back to the centre and was bounced about 20 seconds after the siren went and Hornridge came away with the victory.
First final
Minor premiers Roxby Miners were set to take on the second placed Olympic Dam Devils.
Before the game started in the change rooms both coaches had their say and what they expected of their team.
At some stages there was nothing but noise and at some stages there were complete silence.
It showed how much both teams wanted to win.
From the first bounce both teams were hard at it and both teams did not look like backing down.
The Devils got on top in the first quarter because of the speed and power of their centre line, lead by ruckmen Shaun Freeth and Greg Latham.
OD's centre man Trent Ormond-Allen provided the difference around the ground proving too strong in marking contests.
OD kicked early goals and looked strong and controlled the footy.
Despite being behind on the score board the Miners were not going to lay down for OD.
Steve Owens in the middle for the Miners helped the score line.
At the end of the first quarter OD were in front by a reasonable margin.
After the break things stayed the same with OD controlling the footy.
Peek on the half forward line for OD was a good move as his delivery to the full forward was sensational and pretty to watch.
Roxby still did not quit, Cody Kenny for the Miners’ efforts were the same all day, great.
He gave 100 per cent at every contest and did not back down.
But every time the ball seemed to go near Roxby's forward line OD half back line just seem to be unbreakable, with the likes of Tyson Hornhardt, Lee Copeland and Mark Freeth.
All day they worked hard and the results of their hard work showed on the score board.
