Once again it was time for the two biggest rivials of the league - Olympic Dam and Roxby Districts - set to do battle for the last time in the minor round.
This game was the only one for the day as Hornridge travelled to Coober Pedy to play Coober Pedy’s last game for the season.
OD was trying to be the second side to beat the Miners this year, while the Miners were looking to have a win before the week off.
Things started off well for OD as it kicked the first goal after kicking a point and the kick in was made, but Mark Freeth cut the ball off and it ended in a goal for OD's captain Nigel Shinnick.
From that point on OD played well, but the Miners did not back down as the scores were close going into the half-time break.
In the third quarter there were a few changes made as Ryan Schell was moved to the forward to become a marking option.
Towards the end of the third quarter, young Jed Kenny got a run down the foward lines.
He provided a lead many times but at one stage was out marked by Trent Ormond-Allen.
Despite being shorter Kenny did not at any stage take his eyes off the ball and put up a good fight, which to see from a Colt footballer playing A-grade is inspirational.
OD controlled the majority of the last half of football, with its backline not giving much away.
Daniel Rodgers once again earned himself best on ground for OD, playing a big role on the ball and swapping into a foward pocket.
Steve Chapman, who was swapping with Daniel, also played well, as well as centre half back Tyson Hornhardt.
Miners’ efforts were superb to keep the score as low as they did, because OD was playing some good football.
Kain Zeptner and Ricky Prosser were the only two goal scores for the Miners, Kain kicked a handy two and Ricky kicked another four to add to his big list of goals.
Congratulations must go to Dylan Male who made his a-grade debut against Coober Pedy on the weekend and also kicked a goal.
